Unsolicited redesign alert!
I had some fun playing around with Sketch trying to think about how I'd like Android to look when Google launches its new version in June. So I went ahead and sketched some of my ideas.
One thing that bugs me a lot in Android is the left part of the status bar that shows tons of notification icons. It's terribly frustrating and distracting. After some thinking I figured a better place would be in the action bar at the bottom, in lieu of the "app switcher" icon. The notifications center would now animated in from the bottom of the screen, leaving the top for a now always accessible Google Now. Long pressing the home icon would bring the app switcher.
I'll let you guys check out the full-view here.
As a way to give back to this amazing community, I've attached all the source files for you to download and play with.
PS: I am aware that I'm missing some context and research results and won't claim that this redesign is any better than what Android looks like right now. This is just me having some fun. And yes, there's some inspiration from iOS. I've try to bring some of the good stuff from there.
Most icon credits go to Picons and Drew Wilson, and the oriented Nexus 5 to Fabio Basile
